Interesting Thought
You know how it is when you're young....or, maybe not so young. You tend to look at people with an incredibly critical eye.
Even yourself. Especially yourself.
And you find things you don't like.
Especially for us girls, many of these things-we-don't-like are on the surface. We don't like our hair, our body shape, our short toes, our freckles....you name it, some girl somewhere has a bit of a complex over it.
Or we find things that are different about others and point them out. Maybe we even laugh at them.
Then somewhere along in your life you have a baby. And you realize, hey...this baby has no choice in how they look. There may be some imperfections, some quirks, but to you, your baby is perfect.
Absolutely PERFECT!! She is gorgeous...beyond BEAUTIFUL!
And that's how it is for everyone you see. Each one is a miracle. They had no choice in who they are, what they look like, their personality, their background. And somehow, in the moments when you can remember this, realizing that helps you be a lot less critical, and appreciate the uniqueness of each individual.
Including yourself.
I'm learning. Slooooowly.
Thanks, Kristy, for the reminder. I pray I can teach my daughter (by, *gulp*, example) that she is fearfully and wonderfully made. Just right. Just the way she is. And to teach her to accept others in the same way.
Your prayers are appreciated in this endeavor... it seems a difficult task. I'm learning 'sloooowly' , too! :)
Love to you.
True, so true. Looking with eyes of love makes all the difference. We learn a lot from loving our sweet babies-- it's only the beginning. Love to you, and prayers always.
ReplyDeleteThat was really sweet, and really good to think about. Now if we can just remember it....that's the hard part.
