Good Monday to all!  We had a very fun holiday with family... more on that later.  All 3 of us have major sniffles, so we're reckoning with that this week :(.  But all is well in the big scheme.

Hope your weekend was lots of fun -- and hope you can taste, hear, and smell a lot better than we can.

And that's a cold reference above. Thought it made sense... but looking at it again it seems a little odd.

Instead of deleting and trying over... I leave things and then try to explain.

Ok, ok, I'll leave you now.  With this.

hidden talents

Saturday worker:

Saturday helper:

Saturday results:

I should've taken before and after photos.
Ah. Makes washing dishes more fun. :)

Happy Monday to all.  Over here we're bouncing off the walls because Immy's new friend was born last night. We can not wait to meet Gemma!

Ok, ok, here's one more of Imogen.  She loves playing the piano. It's something we have in common. P.S: who wants to learn The Nutcracker duets with me???  Tis the season and all so I brought out the solo book on Saturday and was reminded how fun those pieces are to play... seems like even more so if you're playing with a friend.  So, who's in???
Maybe Immy will be soon. :)

Love.

good morning, daylight saving!

yesterday it was 6:30... today it was a bit before that.

and you have to snap fast
because she holds still for max 1 second at a time

waking early is fine by me.... as long as it means a 2 nap day.
::crosses fingers::

but she is sweet. man, is she ever sweet.

hope you're savoring the daylight.
love.

Oh, this kid. She's something. And I'll refrain from saying "how has a year already gone by??" a million times, even though I sort of feel like it.  Instead, I'll tell you what Immy's been up to. K?  K.

She loves to eat. Anything (yes, this includes paper and rocks and all manner of other non edibles). I'm very glad I got matched up with a nonpicky baby. Now there is someone in the family that will eat tuna salad with me. And mushrooms! And and and... I'm lucky. I know. And I hope it holds.

She loves books. She has a pile of board books on her play mat in the living room and she usually starts the day paging through them, and I'll catch her going back to look at them several times throughout the day. She likes to sit in my lap and look at them, too, although she doesn't have patience to hear all the words on the page before needing to turn it.

She's crawling everywhere and pulling up on everything, but she hasn't attempted any steps on her own yet.

Naptimes  are different every day, it seems like, which makes it a tad bit hard to plan stuff since I'm not sure if she'll be sleeping, or tired, or whatever. But she's a pretty good carseat napper, and that's fantastic. (unless we say "oh, she'll fall asleep in the car." because that jinxes it every. single. time.)

She doesn't like growing teeth, and I've lost track of how many shes got in there -- probably 8+.

She hates having her nails clipped. And that makes two of us.

She had her first bloody lip last Friday --  from falling. :(

She loves playing with Mr. K and with Reagan. Right now we're just trying to protect Davie until she gets bigger and stronger :) -- but Imogen loves "talking" to Davie on my old, out of use cell phone... I think she calls Davie about seven thousand times a day.

She likes to play the piano. She sets her little hands on the keys and then lifts and plays with her second finger. Only her second finger.  It's going to be hard to play scales that way.

She likes to talk and she's trying new words all the time. She can tell you what the dog says and what the cow says. She can say daddy (dada), mama, paula, dog, bottle (baba), night night (nighnigh), uh oh, banana, Nonna, Boppa, Davie (sounds like dada), and Dr. Tull (sounds like 3 syllables da-da-ta).
She has taken to saying 'yeah' if you ask her a yes or no question. Like: Hey Immy, are you 1? And she goes, "ya.".  And then you can keep asking her all kinds of cool questions and she'll say "ya."  Very cute.

She had her one year photos taken last Saturday by Mr. K's mama   (the photos in this post and the last are part of that shoot) and I love them!   (3 cheers for photographer friends!!)

So, all in all it's been a wonderful year with our daughter!  We're so glad we get to keep her.

She's having a little birthday party tomorrow -- so I'll try and post a couple of pics.

Much love to you all.

365 days

that was then:

this is now:

oh, little girl. thank you for coming to stay with us. we'd like to think you looked down and picked us especially to be your daddy and mama. but we mustn't kid ourselves, now should we? for why would something so precious, so sweet, choose us out of all the other people in this world?  we know we're blessed and we pray every day that you will feel God's love because of us... as we have felt God's love because of you.

happy birthday, imogen!
